I have a confession to make. I am really, really sick of crocheting elephants. They were a lot of fun at first but then I got so many requests for them that it felt like I was never stopping. I've lost count of how many I've made in total but I'm on my second pack of safety eyes. And they come in packs of 50 pairs so I know that the number is somewhere between 50 and 100. Yup. That's a lot of elephants. So I made the decision to close my Etsy store and just go back to the basics with my crocheting. It's been a nice, welcomed break. It was also part of my 20 before 20 goals to crochet some animals that aren't elephants. Since my elephant break I've completed two new projects. A bunny and a panda. Aren't they adorable? This is just a quick post to show them off a little bit and write little mini reviews of the patterns as well.

Out of the two I definitely think the flopsy bunny is my favourite. I made a few adjustments to the pattern and I'll just quickly run you through those just now before we discuss the pattern itself:
- I crocheted the whole thing using a 3mm hook. I really like the Clover Amour crochet hooks but they are quite expensive. So I only have the 3mm and the 4mm because these are the hook sizes I use most often. I didn't notice a difference in the finished product and I think all the elements still size up pretty well.
- I made the ears in a different colour and matched up that colour to the nose. This was actually because I was running out of the yellow yarn but I really like the effect it gives.
- Embroidery is not my strong point so I changed the shape of the mouth a little. I'd tried to replicate the shape from the pattern but couldn't get it to sit right.
- Lastly I crocheted a little heart and added it to the front of the bunny. Just as a cute little finishing touch. I thought it was quite effective.
Overall, I'm really pleased with the finished amigurumi. The pattern is very well laid out and really easy to follow so I'm glad that I stumbled upon it. I actually started this is February as part of a challenge with another blogger that we never got around to finishing. A few weeks ago I finally picked it back up and finished it off whilst binge watching Stranger Things. This is definitely in my top 5 favourite things I've ever made.
And the next pattern...

The pattern suggests using multiple colours but I went for grey and white. Not traditional panda colours but I had some grey yarn to use up so that's what I went with. The grey makes it look a little softer actually. My gran reads Woman's Weekly and occasionally keeps the patterns for me if she things I'll like them. I'm very glad that she kept this one for me as the end result is adorable. There wasn't a tail on the pattern but I copied the tail pattern from the bunny and added one. I think it's a nice finishing touch. I also used my 3mm Clover amour hook for this one. It's a dream. If you're big on amigurumi then you seriously should invest in one as it reduces wrist strain so much!
