I've always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with my brows. They've always been big, bushy and generally untameable. I've been getting them waxed regularly for the last few years but have never really taken much care in shaping them or filling them in on a daily basis. Because honestly? I'm actually pretty lazy and low maintenance. Most days I don't even wear make up. So when I was invited along to the press day at the HD Brows Training Academy in Glasgow to try out the treatment* I instantly knew that I wanted to go so that I could know what it felt like to have 'eyebrows on fleek' for once.
Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to get my eyebrows tinted as my patch test never arrived in the post. I think this is one of the biggest parts of the treatment so definitely make sure this is something you have 100% sorted before your appointment. I was told I would be posted a patch test I could apply before the treatment but one never arrived. I'm not 100% sure if you book an appointment yourself what the procedure for getting a patch test is. So all of the changes that you see in my brows were the result of waxing, threading and plucking. The wax used in the treatment is really gentle on the skin, it doesn't even feel warm when applied. Using lots of little wax strips the majority of the shaping is done before any fine tuning done with threading and plucking. I've never had my eyebrows threaded before but have heard some horror stories as some people find it to be really painful. I can't lie and say that it wasn't painful but I wouldn't say that it was any more painful than the plucking. I asked for a nice natural look that was a little more shaped than my normal brows and I got exactly that. The stylist took a lot of time and care with them and really listened to what I wanted. I think the whole treatment took about 45 minutes which really surprised me! As you can see from the before and after photo the difference is really noticeable. I really love them! I've even had a few compliments on them as well which is always a nice little self confidence boost.
It's been about two weeks now and my brows still look really nice. I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't get to try out the tinting as I think that would really help the brows stay for longer but so far so good! The woman who did my treatment said that the recommended time to leave between treatments is 4-6 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows back. The treatment costs £25 which I think is pretty fair considering the time it takes and the skill obviously involved with the techniques used. HD Brows take their training very seriously. However, £25 every 4 weeks isn't something that I can keep up with on a student budget. That being said I would definitely return and get a treatment before a special occasion or a holiday etc as I love the effect that it has given!
A big thanks to everyone at HD Brows for welcoming myself and all the other bloggers for the press day. Our eyebrows are all looking on point!
