Review: Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon

Hello everyone. If you read Monday's blog post you'll know I recently bought a few things from Lush. One of the things that I couldn't resist from popping in my basket was the Rose Jam Bubbleroon. I tried the Yuzu & Cocoa Bubbleroon a few months ago and I absolutely loved it. There's three in the range. I also wanted to try Green Bubbleroon but they looked very washed out and not strong in colour so I'm going to wait until they get a new shipment of them in. Anyway, the Rose Jam Bubbleroon is kind of like a bubble bar that you're supposed to break in half and use over two baths. I split my bubble bars in half anyway to save myself a bit of money so it was really nice to see that Lush are dissecting them for you, breaking them in half sometimes makes such a waste and you lose a lot of crumbs.

Lush Rose Jam bubbleroon

As for the smell I don't think it needs much of a description. It smells just like roses. It's a really nice, natural scent. Lush are quite well known for their very sweet and sugary scents whilst this is a lot more subtle. I think scents like this are great because it appeals to an even wider amount of people. I think some people avoid Lush because they don't like the strong scent of the shop but this is perfect. Don't get me wrong, I love myself some strong Lush scents but now and again I want something that's more relaxing than exciting. Now that I think about it, I had similar thoughts about the scent of Yuzu and Cocoa. maybe it's the marketing idea behind the Bubbleroon range. I also love the word bubbleroon and it's spot on because they look like little macaroons. I never used to get the whole macaroon but then I tried one and I totally understand the whole hype, they're delicious.

Like all Lush bubble bars this gave off more than enough bubbles to keep me satisfied. It also turned the water a lovely pink colour, nice but not too strong. Sorry for the awful second photo. The bathroom in my new house doesn't have a window(who designs a bathroom with no window?!) so the lightening isn't great.

Overall I'm really happy with this. It's not something that I'd rush out again to buy because it didn't exaclty wow me, but it was just what I needed after a long day. At £3.50 I think these are reasonably priced based on the amount of uses that you can get out of one. I'd recommend!

Birthday Haul 2014

Hello everyone! I just wanted to start off this post with a little disclaimer. Birthday and Christmas hauls are obviously a bit controversial but please know that I'm not doing this as a way of bragging, if anything it's showing my appreciation! I've had a few people asking to see it so I really wanted to try and put one up. I had a lovely birthday and got so many lovely presents from my friends and family.

My friends also got me a lovely dress along side the necklace pictured above. The photos of the dress were not doing it justice at all so I guess you'll just have to wait for an OOTD ;) My mum also bought me a pair of glasses but I'm still waiting for them to get fitted with the lenses and delivered.

Recipe: Lemon and Coconut Thumbprint Cookies

Hello everyone. Today I'm sharing with you a recipe for these cookies that I recently made. I was really happy with how they turned out, even if I didn't really get great photos. I don't know about you but I just LOVE lemon curd. These cookies are normally made with jam but when I found a jar of it in the fridge I knew I'd have to experiment. They were super tasty.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 oz of butter
3 1/2 oz of sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla essence,
4oz of plain flour
1oz of dessicated coconut
1 jar of lemon curd

Method:
1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4.
2. Cream together your butter and sugar.
3. Add your egg and vanilla essence and mix.
4. Slowly mix in your flour bit by bit and then add your coconut.
5. You should have a dough that is still quite wet.
6. Doll your dough into little balls and evenly space on a greased/lined baking tray.
7. Flatten the balls with your hand and then make a little indentation onto the centre of the cookie with your thumb.
8. Bake your cookies for about 10 until they've started to cook.
9. Remove them from the oven and then spoon a little bit of the lemon curd into the indentation.
10. Cook the cookies for another 10 minutes until golden brown.

Lush Haul

Hello everyone. I had some birthday money that was burning a hole in my pocket so I decided to head over to Lush. The shower in my new house isn't too great so we've all been having a lot of baths. So I went into Lush with the intention of buying a few bath bombs.

And I've came out with one bath bomb, a massage bar, a bubbleroon and a cleanser. Does this happen to anyone else in Lush or is it just me?!

I've already reviewed Ultrabland and Lord Of Misrule before so I don't really want to go into too much about them as I don't really have anything to say that I've not already said. But these are two of my favourite products from Lush that I'd happily purchase again and again.

I tried the Yuzu & Cocoa bubbleroon a few months ago and I really liked it. So this time I came back for the Rose Jam bubbleroon. It smells absolutely delicious and rather like erm, rose jam. I can't wait to use this!

I got one of the Tender Is The Night massage bars last year at Valentines and I absolutely loved it. The scent is beautiful. So when I saw that they'd brought it back in a different shape I knew I had to pick it up. It still has the same lovely vanilla-y scent! Full review to come!

What was the last thing you bought from Lush and do you have any recommendations for me?

Week In Photos #59

"It wasn't me" / Chinese food / Christmas cookie
Birthday cacti / Amazing book / New pocket mirror
Throwback Thursday / Awesome new baking toys / OOTD

Hello everyone! It feels like absolutely ages since I've properly sat down and written a post like this. I've been gone for quite a while. I moved house on the 10th on January and all of the posts between then and Thursday had been scheduled. There was a lot of hassle as the ceiling in my bedroom needed replacing and some walls had to be knocked down etc so I stayed at my gran's house for a week. I'm quite glad though because I think I missed out on a lot of stress! I got into my new room last Saturday and since then have just been working on trying to get myself settled in. I'm planning on doing a room tour blog post eventually but there are still a few boxes I need to find(are they in the garage? Who knows?) and a few things I need to buy.

Our wifi got installed on Wednesday and it was so beautiful. 12 days without an internet connection is a hard thing for an internet obsessed beauty blogger, I'll tell you something. Since then I've been feeling really motivated to blog lots and lots. I have a whole page worth of ideas and have been taking lots and lots of photos so expect a lot from me over the next few weeks. I'm also going to a blogging event at a salon in Glasgow on Wednesday night. I'm super excited for it because it means I get to see some of my favourites(Charlotte, Louise and Morag) and hopefully meet lots of new blogging friends as well.

It was also my birthday! I had a great day and thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday. I really appreciate it.

Sighh Pocket Mirror

Hello everyone. You may have noticed that there's now a  little button in my blog side bar for an online store called Sighh Designs. I've been following the owner of the store, Polly, on Instagram for a few months and I absolutely love the designs that she creates. When I saw that she was offering a free pocket mirror to bloggers if they put the button in their sidebar I jumped at the chance! I did have to pay postage though so I guess you could call this an 'almost' sponsored post? Anyway, I chose the Lipstick On Teeth Syndrome as I thought it was the most appropriate. As much as I love wearing lipstick it gets me really paranoid as I always seem to get it all over my face! I think I must subconsciously touch my face a lot because whenever I look in the mirror it's smudged.

I was really impressed with the design and the quality of the print. Sometimes when people make handcrafted things with their designs on them the printing isn't great and it looks a little grainy. Like when you print a photo on normal paper instead of photographic paper, it's still a nice photo but not as nice as it could be y'know? However, the picture on this is very crisp and clear.I love the muted colour scheme, very simple but effective. I like the slight transparency on the pink border and how you can see the lipsticks behind it as well. I think that for £3 these pocket mirrors would make a lovely addition to your hand bag or make up bag, or even a little present for a friend? The delivery was quick too and the pocket mirror was nicely wrapped, I would definitely recommend. Polly also makes some great phone cases.

OOTD: Birthday Meal

Hello everyone! As a few of you may know, it was my birthday on Monday. I thought I'd write a blog post abot what I wore out for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend as I'm actually quite happy with this outfit. Thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday in the comments of Monday's blog post. This shirt was one of my two Topshop sale picks and I love the way it fits. I got these wet look leggings and I've been struggling to wear them as I don't have many longer shirts but this one is perfect. It's got a dipped hem at the back so is perfect for covering the butt!

This is also an excuse to show you my new clothes rack. When I moved house and my new bedroom didn't have an in built wardrobe I was a little stuck for ideas. I didn't want to buy a big bulky wardrobe so I decided to just get a plain open clothes rack. I love the way that it looks in room. Plus I can decide on my outfits from the comfort of my bed, win win! It's the Portis clothes rack from IKEA.

Shirt - Topshop
Leggings - Topshop
Necklace - Primark
Boots - New Look

Review: Crystal Clear Intense Anti-Ageing Serum

Hello everyone! I received this anti ageing serum from Crystal Clear in my goodie bag at the Fabb Glasgow event back in October. I felt really guilty about it because this product actually retails for £59.99 which is verrrrry expensive. As it's designed for older skin I didn't really feel like I could effectively review it. So in comes my mum! I passed along my Lift Away The Years Intense Anti Ageing Serum to her so that she could review it for me! There's a little 30ml tube of the serum which you insert into the wand. This then vibrates and disperses the product so that you can massage it into your face. This is supposed to dramatically reduce wrinkles.

Unfortunately we got off to a bad start. The massaging wand broke within about 4 uses. I'm not too sure if the batteries just went or if there was a definite fault with it but that's not very impressive for something so expensive. My mum continued to use the serum and was just applying it with her fingers. She was actually amazed by how quickly she started to notice differences in her skin. "My face feels so much more tight and I've noticed a big difference in the wrinkles around my eyes". I was actually just sitting in my room doing some bloggin' and she came bursting in raving about how much she liked it. So it's a thumbs up from my mum on the serum but not on the wand. You can buy replacements of the Intense Anti Ageing Serum for £29.99 which is way more than I would ever pay but my mum is seriously considering buying one when this runs out. But I wouldn't bother buying the wand as well, it seems to work well enough without it.

Review: Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub

Hello everyone! It's my birthday! This post hasn't got anything to do with that but I thought you might like to know anyway. Today I'm reviewing the latest body scrub I've been trying: Rub Rub Rub from Lush. This is very well known for looking like a blue slushie! If I'm honest I really dislike this product so if you're not a massive fan of negative reviews then this might not be to post for you!

My main issue with this is that I don't actually find it exfoliating at all. To be honest, I'm using it and feeling like it's doing nothing at all! I understand that some body scrubs are designed for skin that will react badly to harsher exfoliants. But I also don't understand how this would even exfoliate the tiniest bit! It turns to liquid so quickly and I'm just rubbing it against my skin. It also leaves my hands feeling really weird, like kind of filmy. I need to wash my hands straight away with some sort of soap.

I'm a bit annoyed by it because I was really excited to try this. I love the scent, it's very refreshing and clean. I love the Soap & Glory body scrubs but the scents are all very sweet and not something I'm in the mood for all the time, so I was expecting this to be the perfect replacement. I feel a bit let down by Lush to be honest. They're one of my favourite companies and I always recommend them to people. The products that I've disliked from Lush before have always been products that even though I've disliked them I can see how other people would. But I can't with this! And for £8.25 I could have bought one of the Soap & Glory scrubs, which are amazing. It's a shame, but not this time Lush, sorry!

Review: Lush Lord Of Misrule

Hello everyone. You may have seen this little lurker hanging about in the Lush stores over the Christmas period. And you may have avoided it because it doesn't look as fun. AND YOU'VE MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE. This is my new all time favourite Lush bath bomb. That's right, I said it, THIS BEATS CINDERS. IT REQUIRES CAPITAL LETTERS.

I love Cinders, I really do. The scent is absolutely beautiful. But the colour it turns my water? Well it looks like pee. And there's no way of saying it nicely. And it sounds a bit weird and petty. But sitting in a bath of what looks like pee is pretty weird.

Lord Of Misrule has a very similar scent to Cinders. I'm not going to say they smell exactly the same because Lord Of Misrule is supposed to smell like mulled wine and spices, unlike Cinders, but to be honest. I really struggle to notice a difference. This one has a super secret core. Once all the green on the outside has fizzled away, you're left with a lovely pink centre. It turns to bath a lovely deepp pink/purple. Much nicer than Cinders, no pee in sight!

So that's why I've came to the conclusion that I like it even more than what used to be my all time favourite bath bomb. It smells pretty much exactly the same and has a much nicer colour. It's a wee bit more expensive at £3.30 but it's definitely a lot bigger. If you're one of those people who uses half a bath bomb(please teach me how to do this) then it could easily last you two goes. I was pretty sure that this was LE as part of the Christmas collection but it's still on the Lush Website and is probably still in stores as well. So buy one. Now.
