Pimp My Cacti

Hello everyone! I've seen this DIY floating around on Pinterest and I finally got around to trying it. If you've followed Water Painted Dreams for a while then you'll know that I've received a few cacti this year as presents. The DIY that I'm doing involves surrounding your cacti with little coloured stones. I think it looks really effective! Especially as mine are in little coloured pots. And I only managed to prick myself like 7 times....

You will need:
Your cacti
Coloured aquarium gravel*
Tweezers
A spoon

*You can use any sort of gravel that you'd like but I'd recommend aquarium gravel. Aquarium gravel is designed to be chemically inert so it will not change the pH of the water when you water your cacti. I got mine from the aquarium I work in but I'm sure you can find it online. Half of the 450g bag was enough for me to decorate all 3 of my cacti.

Open you bag of gravel and use the spoon to add some gravel around the sides of the tubs. You can then use the tweezers to move gravel in closer to the spikes. Just fiddle around with it until you get it looking just how you want it.

And here's the finished result!

So what do you think? Will you try something similar.
