I'm sure a lot of you already know that I'm a massive crochet geek. I'm always on the look out for places to buy wool so that I can get the best value for money. One of my biggest crochet inspirations is Donna from What Peggy Said. I asked her on Instagram ages ago where she buys her wool from and she pointed me in the direction of Deramores. Recently they had a sale on so I thought it would be a good time to try them out, they also do free delivery if you spend over £25. I also got a 30% off code when I signed up for their newsletter so I was able to get some awesome bargains. In the end I got 24 balls of wool for just over £25. I am so impressed with that!
First off I got two big balls of the King Cole Big Value Super Chunky Wool in Grey. These are both 100g balls. I've never used King Cole wool before but I was looking for something really chunky to make a big snuggly cowl with. This was absolutely perfect! I've already made one and I love it. Still undecided on whether I'm going to sell it or keep it for myself. I did kind of make up the pattern as I went along so I think that I might publish it when it gets closer to winter!
These next yarns are my favourites out of the whole haul. Stylecraft Special Chunky in Aspen and Lavender. Again 100g balls. How gorgeous are these colours? I used one of the Aspen balls to make a ribbed beanie following this pattern and it looks amazing. Still undecided on what to do with the remaining wool, what do you think I should make?
I follow a page called The Crochet Crowd on Facebook and they post monthly challenges with the opportunity to win prizes and stuff. They're always talking about Red Heart yarn so I was determined to track some down. The Lisa range was on sale at Deramores so I decided I'd pick up a few balls! It's lovely wool, very soft. It was only available in 50g balls so I got two of each but only photographed one of each to not clog up my photos. The colours are:
Left column(top-bottom): Pumpkin, Cherry, Ice Cream Pink, Wine Red.
Right column(top-bottom): Lagoon, Berry Mouline, Pink Freesia, Purple.
Again I'm not 100% sure what I want to do with these so if you have an suggestions then let me know! I can't seem to find Ice Cream Pink on the website so that's why it isn't linked. The neon pink is similar though!
And then I just picked up two balls of some craft cotton. This is what I use to make crocheted dishcloths and they sell like nobodies business. Free pattern here.
All in all I am really impressed with my Deramores order. The delivery was really quick and everything is exactly as pictured on the website. I don't think it's going to be somewhere where I buy all of my wool just because it's easier for me to nip down to the shops and buy what I want when I need it and not pay delivery but I would really recommend it. If I'm ever wanting to buy wool in bulk again(or get more of the gorgeous Stylecraft Chunky) then I'll be back!
