TGI Friday's Burger Blind Date

Hello everyone! I was invited along to the Glasgow branch of TGI Friday's on Thursday night to participate in their burger blind date event. Hell yes! I was so in. I had a plus one so I invited my boyfriend along with me(his first blogging event, everyone say awww).

When we arrived we were taken to the bar where we were told about their cocktail menu and got to watch some really impressive cocktail making. The bartenders were doing all that fancy throwing about stuff. It was so cool. I went for a popping candy strawberry margarita: Jose Cuervo Especial tequila and BOLS strawberry liqueur with fresh strawberries, lemon and lime juices with a popping candy rim. It was lovely and the popping candy was a really nice touch. Stuart went for a rum and coke(boring).

We were then seated and greeted with a rather unusual menu. Instead of getting told what was on the burgers we were given dating profiles for the burgers. It was really fun and a little exciting to order something and not know what you're getting. I was a little nervous as I'm a bit of a picky eater but I had no need to worry as everything sounded amazing. I was stuck between 2, 4 and 5. Stuart was stuck between 2, 3 and 4.

I decided to go with contestant number 4 and Stuart number 2.

Contestant number 2:

Down south, everything's better when it's smooth... and I'm no exception. One bite and you'll be mine. I'm all over everything and I'd like to be all over you.(PS you think you know me? You don't know Jack).

Contestant number 4:

I'm not telling porkies when I say this. I like my flames how I like my dates - red hot, dangerous and naked. Pick me and you've pulled.

Sounds amazing right? We originally planned to go halfers on each burger but as soon as they arrived that was forgotten. We just tore in!

Contestant number 4 turned out to be their BBQ Pulled Pork burger. A 7oz burger topped with BBQ pulled pork, pickled red onions, colby cheese, Friday's mayo and smothered in Mesquite & Hickory BBQ sauce served on a brioche bun. Wow, what a mouthful. I also had a side of reguar fries. The burger was absolutely huge. You know the type of burger that you pick up and turn around a couple of times because you don't even know where to start? Yeah. That.  In the end I just tore in and it was absolutely beautiful. It was big, messy and delicious. The burger was so lovely and succulent but the pulled pork topping was what really did it for me. Unfortunately it was a little too big and I had to leave some but I'd definitely order it again, it was amazing. I'm drooling thinking about it now. The fries were also really nice. I think they were made with salt and garlic because they had a really nice flavour to them.

Stuart's burger was the Friday's Double Glazed Jack Daniel's burger. Jack Daniel's sweet and smoky glaze, Montery Jack cheese, Jack Daniel's candied bacon and Friday's mayo. He really enjoyed it. After I looked up I'd had about 4 bites of mine and he'd ate it all. Stuart ordered a side of sweet potato fries which he said were delicious with the side of Jack Daniel's dipping sauce.

For my next cocktail I asked the bartender for something fruity and refreshing. I ended up with a Haymarket which is one of TGI Friday's signature cocktails.ABSOLUT Raspberri, apple liqueur, with fresh orange, raspberries and a touch of sugar. My god this was amazing. Definitely my favourite out of the two.

Thank you so much to TGI Friday's for inviting us along! We had an absolutely amazing evening and we'll definitely be back. If you're looking for some awesome burgers, you know where to go!
