Wanderlust

I always find myself on Pinterest and Tumblr and end up burning with wanderlust. I do go on holiday quite a bit but my parents are more 'pool and beach' people whilst I'm more of a 'city gal'. Whilst I do love chilling by the pool with a good book(or should I say several, I'm capable of reading a book a day on holiday), I can't wait to be 'grown up' enough to travel myself and get to see all the amazing places the world has to offer with my friends. I thought I'd write this post to show you the top 5 places I want to travel to and to tell you a little bit as to why I want to go there.

1. London.
Source
It's a little bit embarrassing to say I've never been to London, it's not like it's far away or anything. I could get on a train and be there in about 4 hours. But I've never gotten the chance to go there before, my mum visited as a teenager and didn't like it(I know right?!) so won't go with me. I think it would be the perfect place to start off travelling as I wouldn't have to deal with foreign money(although the English are ridiculously picky about accepting Scottish notes!) and it wouldn't be as expensive as leaving Britain. I'd love to do all the cheesy tourist things, go sight seeing and take photos of myself outside EVERYWHERE. I'd also love to see Wicked as it sounds absolutely amazing and I'm pretty sure London is the only place in the UK to see it.

2. Amsterdam.
Source
I know Amsterdam has got a bit of a bad reputation, with the Red Light District and the weed in coffee shops and all that jazz but I think it's one of the most beautiful cities. There's something about all the little canal streets and the fact that everyone rides bicycles around everywhere that makes it so desirable to me. If you've read The Fault In Our Stars by John Green you will also understand why I want to go so badly. I'd love to just pop over on a ferry(although flying would probably be more comfortable) and spend a few days just wandering or cycling around. I'd also love to visit the Anne Frank Museum, I think it would be a very grounding experience.

3. Berlin.
Source
Through primary school and secondary school I studied German for 7 years. Despite this fact I've never actually been to Germany or had the chance to try speaking German with a native speaker. Where better to start than the country's capital city. I've heard that there's a lot of cool street art(it's only graffiti if it's shit) so I'd love to be able to check out the historical and modern aspects of the city. I'd also love the go see the site of the Berlin wall and  visit Checkpoint Charlie.

4. Moscow.
Add caption
If you've been following my blog for a while you'll know that my number 1 dream holiday would be visiting Moscow. There's something about Russia that's just so interesting to me, I love the complexity of the language and the history is so interesting. Not to mention the architecture, do not get me started talking about how beautiful the buildings are. The only thing is that I've heard the food isn't the best and I'm a bit of a fussy eater. This would be number one on my list but this is definitely the most adventurous out of all the places, I think you have to apply for a visa to visit and it would involve getting more than one flight. One day though!

5. Yosemite.
Source
Yosemite National Park in California is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I'm not usually a nature person but I'd really love to visit. The thing is it's really dangerous, lots of people have died there and there are bears, like actually bears. Maybe a day trip would be best instead of camping. The last time I was camping I was about 10 and I remember watching the ice freeze up the side of the tent. Yup. Day trip.

March Wishlist

March Wishlist

1. Pinafores have gotten back into fashion lately and I'm loving it. This super cute one is from Topshop, it's the nicest I've seen so far and it also comes in a teal and a pink colour. I'm undecided between this one and the teal one.

2. I know it's supposed to be getting into spring but I love this jumper. It's a pastel colour though so it kind of counts, right?

3. You may have seen my last wishlist and yes, I want even more Vans. I really need to buy myself a pair. I love polka dots so these seem like the obvious choice.

4. Every blogger and their dog has been going on about Fine One One, Benefit's latest cream blush/highlighting trio thing and I really want to try it out.

Lush Splurge

When I came out of my maths prelim, I said to myself "Hayley if you get an A, you are going on a splurge at Lush." Well...

Butterball £2.45 / Shampoo Bar Tin £2.50 / Breath Of Fresh Air Toner Water £3.95 / Jumping Juniper Shampoo £5.25 / Phoenix Rising £3.20 / Bubblegum Lip Scrub £5.25 / Cupcake Face Mask £5.95 / Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter £6.25 / You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt £3.10

Yes, I know. I went a little bit mental. I had a voucher though so I did a little saving, although I still am a little embarrassed by how much money I spent. Oh well, who needs self respect when you have Lush products right? Right. The things I am most excited about are the cuticle butter and the shampoo bar. I use Soap and Glory's Hand Food as a hand cream but lately I'm finding it's just not strong enough, I work in an aquarium and I can't describe how dry and wrinkly it makes my hands. Lemony Flutter is designed for cuticles but I can use it as a heavy duty hand cream too. As you can see there is a bit of a chunk missing from the shampoo bar. In an attempt to save a bag I just but it straight into the tin as I was buying it. Big mistake. It wouldn't come out, it was stuck for ages and I ended up having to lever it out which resulted in a lot of it crumbling. I think I'll use it a couple of times before putting it back in the tin!

The freebies! I was telling the sales woman about how my splurge was to celebrate my prelim result and then when I got to the till she was like "here have these for free, congratulations on your result", WHAT A CUTIE! Love you Theresa! What are your favourite Lush items?

Mars Bars Melts, My Turn

Hello everyone, if you read my February Favourites post then you'll know that The Londoner is one of my favourite blogs. One of the things that I love about it so much are the recipes that Rosie shares and I decided to try out the one from her MarsBar Melts post. Technically this one is cheating because it includes packet cake mix... but we'll let that slide. All in the name of chocolate, heh?

All you need for this is one box of Betty Crocker's Devil's Food Cake Mix, 3 eggs, oil and some Mars Bars. I'd recommend putting the Mars Bars in the fridge for a while, this will make them easier to chop up. Mix up the cake batter as per instructions on the box but leave out a little of the water so that the batter is thicker and easier to work into cookies. Then chop up some Mars Bars, about 6 slices per bar and then roll them around in the batter. Place them on a tray and cook at gas mark 4 for about 10 minutes.

These were sooooooo delicious! They were very chewy and chocolatey. Ahh, so good. I was able to make 16 cookies with the cake batter and had some left over for some cupcakes.

Are You Playing It Cool?

Shirt - Peacocks
Dress- New Look
Lipstick - New Temptation by MAC

I'm sorry for the really dodgy photos but damn I hate taking photographs of myself. It was terrible, the flash kept on blinding me and I looked so horrible in all them so I was just like "You know what? No face!" and went with it. I won this lipstick in Stacie's blog giveaway and this was my first time wearing it. Love it, thank you so much!

I really love this dress. A while ago I was shopping for a dress for a party and found this and another one that was a bit more fancy. I decided to get the fancier one for the party but I really liked this one as well. When in doubt? Get both? Maybe not the best idea but I wasn't paying so.....

Snow Day!(and BlogLovin')

Last night it started snowing and it pretty much hasn't stopped since. It's really deep and from what I've heard the roads are an absolute shambles. My school wasn't actually closed but my mum let me have an unofficial snow day, it takes me about 20-30 minutes to walk to school on the average day, never mind in snow this deep. Plus most of the primary schools have been closed which is a bit unfair. So this morning I just got back into bed after having my breakfast and am still to change out of my pajamas. The snow has been forecast to stay on all day until midnight, this is the Met Office forecast for where I live. So I think I'm just going to shower, get dressed, grab a hot chocolate and curl up in the conservatory reading Dracula on my kindle whilst the snow falls around me.

And on another side note, with the total hoo haa surrounding Google reader and GFC at the moment I would really appreciate it if you could follow be via BlogLovin'. I'm like 90% sure GFC is not going to disappear but I guess you're better safe than sorry. You can find my BlogLovin' here. Does it bug anyone else that blogs don't have proper links on BlogLovin'? No? Just me? I've tried using it a bit actually, I quite like that you can click next to go onto the post but that's about it. I'd rather have everything all on the one website. Feel free to leave me a link to your BlogLovin' too, I imported all the blogs I follow but if your account is fairly new I might have missed it. Oh, and I've found a petition to save Google reader, you can find it here.

Week In Photos #40

Cats / Mature lunch / Mars Bar melts
Mars Bar cupcakes / Snow / Boss's dog
Banana bars / Upside down time / Before and after of the work store cupboard

Hello everyone. I know, I know, I'm failing miserably at week in photos posts. It's been about three weeks but I've only taken about nine photos.

Anyway, the last few weeks have been pretty good. We went to go see Cats at the Edinburgh Playhouse for my gran's birthday and it was really good. We also went to this reaaaally nice Italian restaurant before the show and I had the most drool-worthy pizza. Then the week after that it was my maths prelim which wasn't too terrible. I've gotten up to quite a lot of baking, recipe posts to follow. And I now have all my prelim(or mock exams depending on what you call them) results. AAAA and a B. Bit annoyed about the B but I'll work on it.

Review: Superdrug dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask

Hello everyone. You may remember that I reviewed another Superdrug mask a while ago. I really wasn't impressed with it and it really put me off trying this one which I had bought at the same time. It's taken me a while but I finally got round to trying it.

I love the smell of skincare products that claim to have 'dead sea minerals' and this was no exception. The added smell of lemon was really nice as well, a very good combination. This applied pretty well and there was more than enough in the sachet for a full face application. I left this on until it started to feel tight and then washed it off. It made my skin feel quite clean but I didn't notice any change in the way my skin looked after using this. All in all I thought this was an ok mask and at 99p it was good value for money but I don't think it's a wonder mask and I probably won't be repurchasing.

TFIOS Live

On the 8th February I headed through to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with Stuart, my friend Elen and her friend Niall to see TFIOS Live. By the time we got to Glasgow we only had time to nip to McDonalds before going to the show. The venue was really nice and everyone got a signed copy of The Fault In Our Stars upon entry(it was only £12 for the tickets as well). Fortunately I was able to get tickets for the fourth row so we were very close and by some crazy coincidence, despite booking at different times Stuart and I managed to get seats right next to Elen and Niall.

Now for those of you wondering 'what's TFIOS live'? It was basically a tour to celebrate that The Fault In Our Stars is now being published by Penguin in the UK. It was basically one massive vlogbrothers video. John read some of the book, answered some questions and just had a wee chat and Hank, his brother for those of you who don't know, played some songs. The best part of the evening was when Hank asked who wanted to hear a specific song and then played The Universe Is Weird at my request! I filmed it and put it on YouTube, click here to see the video.

After the show ended by the brothers singing 500 Miles, there was a signing. They couldn't take photos with people so they told people to take photos of them in the above position and photoshop themselves into it but I don't have photoshop, someone take pity on me and do it for me? Pleeeeeease?

Everyone was allowed to take three things to the signing which I thought was pretty generous but they wouldn't sign clothing or skin. Luckily being in the forth row we got seen pretty quick, they said that based on the previous nights it would take two hours for the whole thing. It was seriously an amazing night. The brothers were so funny and it was amazing to get to meet them as well!

Blurry blurry!

After we left we decided to go to Frankie and Benny's for some desert,  I got the cinnamon waffle crunch which is one of my all time favourite deserts, perfect end to a perfect night.
