February Empties

1. Bodycare Cotton Pads - My mum has bought me about four packs of these recently and they aren't something I really use all that much apart from for make up and nail varnish remover. They're handy to have around but I just don't have space for 4 packs. These ones are pretty decent but go fluffy quite quickly with nail varnish remover though. Would I repurchase? Yes

2. Herbal Essences Shine Enchancing Conditioner- I really like this conditioner, I feel that the matching shampoo is a bit too rich for my hair. Would I repurchase? Yes

3. Lush Sex Bomb - You can read my review of this here. Would I repurchase? Yes

4. Lush Dragon's Egg - You can read my review of this here. Would I repurchase? No

5. Body Shop Candied Ginger Body Butter - You can read my review of this here. Would I repurchase? Yes

6. Impulse Hot Pink Shower Gel - Got this for Christmas in a gift set, has a nice tropical scent but I don't think it can be bought on it's own. Would I repurchase? No

7. Boots Cucumber Toner - Bought this in the summer, honestly don't think it has done anything to my skin. It does have a nice scent though and felt quite soothing on my skin after a long day. Would I repurchase? No

8. Impulse Romantic Spark Body Spray - I always get these at Christmas but I'm not really an aerosol fan. I normally try and use them up pretty quick. This did smell quite nice though. Would I repurchase? No

9. Sure Deodrant -This didn't work for me at all. I've found my holy grail deodrant but I'm trying to use up ones like these that I bought in my quest to find it. Would I repurchase? No

What did you use up this month?

Somebody That I Used To Know

Shirt - Quiz
Belt - Primark
Leggings - H&M

Just a quick OOTD post. I got this shirt is the sale after Christmas, it's a size too big so I like wearing it with a belt just to cinch it in a little. I have an essay to write on Of Mice And Men tonight but I don't like to dress in joggers and a t-shirt whilst doing work as it just encourages me to be slobby. If I was going out I'd probably wear this with a pair of ankle boots or plan black flats(minus the socks). I've been quite busy lately with school and being ill but I do have a couple of posts lined up including February favourites and empties, a DIY candle holder and a day in photos. Also I will be guest posting on Roza's blog and another blog sometimes soon so look out for that too.

Hope you have a nice day,

Recently Read

An Abundance Of Katherines by John Green
I absolutely love John Green's books, I'm working my way through them all and only have Will Grayson, Will Grayson to go. This admittedly was my least favourite of his books but it's still excellent. Colin is such an adorable character. I love the narrative tone that Green uses in his novels. There was quite a bit of math in this novel but I understood most of it, however I do have some friends that didn't so I'd watch out if your not so good at maths and have someone on hand to explain it.

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
I will never ever read this book again. It's written from inside the mind of a serial murder/rapist. I found it very disturbing and hard to read. For example there is a chapter that involves a starved rat, some cheese and a girl's genitalia. See? Not nice. I think what the most creepy thing is at the beginning of the novel he seems like an alright guy. It's one of those novels that was written to schock people, like Lolita, it was definitely an expierence readin but I don't think I'll be reading it again.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Oh my, this book is just perfect. I read this in a day. It is seriously so good. I instantly fell in love with the characters. This is such a beautiful novel, the narrative character is a teenage girl with cancer. There are some very touching moments in this novel, I'm not one to cry at books but I have a friend that cried all the way through this. Would seriously recommend this book!

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
This book is what I'd call a 'teenage-easy-read'. It's good but it's not particularly challenging. It's the sort of book I'd recommend for people that like to read to relax. I really like the story line in this. A girl whose aunt has died receives little letters from her aunt each one contains an instruction. She then follows the instructions and ends up travelling Europe. I'd recommend it as a book to read on holiday.

Have you read any of these books? Did you enjoy them? Have you read any good books lately?

Nail Tutorial: Hatched Nails

Hi everyone :)
This is a nail tutorial for 'hatched nails'. I done this post as a guest post on Roza's blog but decided to post it here as well. If you've not already checked out her blog you should definitely do so!
For Christmas a friend got me a book called Lets Make Some Great Art, on each page it gives instructions for arty things to do. One of the pages is about hatching, as shown below, and I thought it would make some really cool nail art.

What you will need:
Base and Top Coat (optional)
White Nail Polish
Black Nail Art Pen

Step 1:
Paint nails with a base coat if you are using one and then with your white varnish. I used No7 Stay Perfect in Snowflake.

Step 2:
You need to put little lines in groups onto your nails. The lines need to be going in different directions. Do this over all of the nail. I used the Model's Own Nail Art Pen.

Step 3:
Apply a top coat. This is optional but when doing nail art I would fully recommend it.

And there you go, a quick and easy nail art idea. I think this looks really cool and I've had a few compliments on it.

Won't You Be My Downfall Once Again Tonight?

Dress - Pie In The Sky(Cockburn Street, Edinburgh)
Jacket - New Look
Belt - Primark
Earring - DIY

Just a quick little outfit of the day that I took just before heading out to a meeting with some people down at my local college, which actually got cancelled and no one got told until we all arrived to get sent home again. Have about four essays to do before Monday so my blog might suffer a little. Have a good day :)

Bomb Cosmetics Carnival Of Love Bath Tulip Review

I'm going to spit it out straight away, I am not a fan of Bomb Cosmetics. I find they make my bath too oily and leave my skin feeling horrible and greasy. I have used two other bath products they made and I didn't like those either. The well of this is very nice; florally with lots of rose notes. However this didn't really do anything to my bath. It just melted in, it didn't change the colour of the water so I didn't bother to take a photo. I hated the way this made my skin feel however, I used this at night but if I had used it in the morning I would have gone for a shower before going out. It just made me feel so oily and it was quite gross. I wouldn't really recommend Bomb Cosmetics for bath products but I have used one of their candles which I really liked.

Edinburgh Haul & NOTD

Today is the last day of my half term and I spent the day in Edinburgh with my grandmother. She was originally on a mission to visit the Ecco shoe store(where she spent £175 on two pairs of shoes, ouch) but I stopped in a few shops to pick up some things.

I got these two shirts from a shop called Joy in the Princes Mall but I'm not entirely sure if this is a chain store or not. I really like the low back with the bow on these shirts and to make it even better these were 2 for 1 so I got both for £2o. I also popped into the new Primark on Princes Street and picked up this belt for £2.50, I love the detailing on the buckle and am going to use it to jazz up some boring outfits.

My absolute favourite pair of jeans were from H&M and I just found a hole in them so I bought this pair as a replacement, these are their 'squin' jeans.

I bought a 2nd Sure Maximum Protection deodrant for when mines runs out. It costs £5.30 but it's the best deodrant ever and one will last about 3 months. I also bought a Model's Own Nail Art Pen for about £6, I'm really excited to try something cool with this. I got a pack of multivitamins specially designed for teenagers as due to illnesses I have and medication I have to take I am often very tired or nauseous and off food. I've been looking for a pair of skin toned tights but I am very pale so they all look really weird on me, I picked up this pair of cream tights as I figured they'd be pretty close.

Also quickly just wanted to show you my nails, I used Barry M in Dusky Mauve and Accessorize in Sunny Days.

Hope you are all having a lovely day,
Hayley x

Lush Brazened Honey Face Mask Review

This is the third face mask I have tried from Lush and honestly I preferred the other two (love lettuce and mask of magnaminty). I've been pretty ill lately and when I went to buy this I asked which one would be best at brightening up my skin again and I ended up buying this one. This contains honey, lime, eggs and lots of other things that help your skin feel brighter and cleaner. And whilst this face mask doesn't make my skin feel unclean, it doesn't feels 'wow clean' like the other masks had. The smell is bearable but it isn't very nice. Overall I think it's a decent mask but it isn't what I was looking for and wasn't really worth the money.

Small Book Haul

I was feeling really crap today after having yet another blood test so I decided to treat myself to some new literature. I just finished reading American Psycho(NEVER AGAIN). So I wanted something a little more easy to read and preferably with no graphic descriptions of intestines. I've wanted these John Green books for ages! I read Looking For Alaska and Paper Towns a while ago and I love Green's writing style. I also picked up the Maureen Johnson book as I've been eyeing it up for a while and all the teenage books were on 3 for 2, yup, all of them. I've started reading The Fault in Our Stars already and I'm about 3 chapters in. So far I'm in love! Will be reviewing these books in a 'Recently Read' post soon. Have you read any good books lately?

Body Shop Candied Ginger Body Butter

I don't think I could rave enough about this. I got this in a set with two other Christmas butters for my birthday back in January. I decided to use this one first as I liked the scent the best. It's such a spicy, warm scent that makes me think of Christmas. I've used it all up and I'm pretty gutted now. I never used body butter until I got this and it's helped my skin so much. The main reason I'd avoided body butters before was because I hated the greasy feel they left behind. This however sinks into the skins and just leaves your skin feeling so smooth. This is a Christmas product and I'll definitely be picking up a full size this winter if they re-release it.

NOTD: OPI Skull and Glossbones

I really love this polish. It's my go to when I don't know what to use. It applies well after two coats and is really tough and doesn't chip easily. The only downside of OPI polishes is the price, however my mum is a hairdresser and buys her supplies from Sally's. They have a VAT free day once a month and along with the discount you get if you use a Sally's card this cost me under £5! Bargain.

Lush Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb Review

What Lush Say
Like an everlasting gobstopper, this ballistic keeps on revealing layer upon layer of surprises. It gives up its gifts in an unfolding drama, leaving you in a bath of molten gold. Along the way you will experience a firework display of colour, a fiery crackle of popping candy, a swirling landscape of creamy foam and a drift of paper dragon scales.
To complete the fantasy we rounded this off with a fragrance of sexy jasmine and uplifting citruses and bergamot. Leaves you ready to come out of your cave and soar!

What I say

Now when they say it's like an everlasting gobstopper, they aren't kidding arouund. This takes forever, it's certainly the most unique bomb I've used. I was very confused when I first out this in as it didn't fizz it foamed, it wasn't giving off much of a scent either. And then foamed some more. And some more. And then some more.

And then after about 10 minutes of foam foam foam an orange crack appeared down the middle and then my water started turning gold. It was really fizzing away from the orange centre and I could hear the crackling popping candy. Then the crack got so big that it split in two and went foaming/fizzing around the bath some more.

In the end I was left with a very sweet, almost lemon sherbetty smelling bath tub that was absolutely full of glitter, the water was so glittery is made it murky. A lot of glitter was also left in the bottom of the tub after the water ran away. This was quite irritating as I had to wash the bath afterwards which kind of ruined the whole relaxing bath thing I had going. However if you love glitter this is a good one for you.

Overall
A very sweet bath bomb with a hidden core. Best for those that love glitter, surprises and are patient enough to wait for it to dissolve properly.

Recently Read

Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck- I read this in English class. I really enjoyed this book and found it was an easy read. I've heard mixed reviews about this and believe that most people who didn't enjoy it read it in school and simply got fed up with having to analyse it. I found Lennie such an adorable character who was so easy to love and feel sorry. I really admired George and had a lot of respect for him as a character and the sacrifice he had to make at the end was heartbreaking!
Would I Recommend?- Yes

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald- Again this was another book I really enjoyed, it's quite short but it's a good novel. The character of Gatsby is very mysterious and I liked the narrative tone. I was expecting this to be a difficult read but it turns out that it runs very smoothly and makes a good read. I really want to read another Fitzgerald novel now as I really enjoyed this.
Would I Recommend?- Hell yes

Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I'll admit that I wasn't too much of a fan of this novel. I have already read Matched By Allie Condie and the plot lines are so similar. I liked the main character but I found that she and her male interest in the novel just 'fell in love' too quickly. I really struggled to connect with the characters and over all I just didn't really enjoy it.
Would I recommend?- Not Really

Next Up?
American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis
Atonement - Ian McEwan
The Shining - Stephen King

Lush Space Girl Bath Bomb Review

What Lush Say
Of course, if we were making an interstellar ballistic we had to put space dust in it (otherwise known as popping candy). So make sure you plunge your head underwater if you want to hear the full effects of the crackles and pops.
We make lots of music at Lush and much of it is written for us by Simon Emmerson from The Imagined Village. On their second album, Empire & Love, they did a great track called Space Girl. Simon’s daughter (normally his biggest critic) listened to the track and liked it so much she said wouldn't it be great to have a Lush product to match it. When Simon told us, we rather agreed! We had to do the track justice, so made a ballistic with a bright sparkly fragrance, coupled with a deep space colour and a sprinkling of glitter for you to create the swirling constellations in your water.

What I Say
I really like this bath bomb! At £1.95 it's a great price for the product. It turns your water a lovely purple colour and has such a sweet fruity scent. However there is quite a lot of glitter in this product. I don't mind glitter unless it's on a load of Christmas cards in my bag and goes everywhere. It's not too much glitter but you can see it reflecting on the surface of the water and while see a few but not too many flecks on your skins afterwards. This creates a lovely bathing environment perfect for after a long hard day. And as for the popping candy, I could hear it but only for a few seconds whilst the bomb was fizzing and for a few seconds afterwards, definitely not a feature for the people that like to pop a bomb in and come back in a couple of minutes later!

January Favourites

Sleek Palette in Storm- I absolutely love this, it's been my go to for shadows ever since I bought it, I hit pan on the top 3rd shadow this month which is a lovely matte tan perfect for an all over eye colour.
No7 Amazing Eyes Liner- This is my favourite liquid liner, I'm running low on this. However I wouldn't recommend buying this without a £5 off voucher. I find that the brush is thin enough to make really good precise flicks.
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub- I absolutely love this! I've really gotten into using this every morning. It makes my lips feel really smooth and soft. It also tastes delicious. If you haven't smelt this before you should go straight to your lush and check it out!
Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud- I'm trying to use this up as a part of my Project 10 Pan. I'm about 3/4 through it. It brings subtle colour to the cheeks without being overpowering. & at £1.99 it is really good value for money.
Beyonce Heat Perfume- My gran bought me this for Christmas and it instantly became one of my favourite scents. It's a really woody perfume which is my favourite style of perfume. I've used nearly half the bottle!

Jill Jackson- Jill is a singer that used to sing in Speedway and is now a solo artist. I absolutely love her. I even have a signed copyof her album The Ones That Got Away. My favourite songs are Sunbeams And Custard Creams, Travelling Clown and Save Yourself.

Lush Sex Bomb Review!

After coming home after a long hard week at school and being completely frozen I decided it was time to make a dent in the load of lush stuff I received from friends for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go with Sex Bomb(teehee). This turned by bath a lovely pink colour and smelt divine! It contains a little rice paper rose that is left behind after all the of the bomb has fizzled away. It's a very sensual scent, with lots of jasmine and ylang ylang. Overall it created a lovely relaxing bath which had left me feeling very relaxed.
